Buster Men Score Perfect in Delgo Invitational

Garden City, KS-Ryan Turner's NJCAA #6 ranked Busters scored a perfect score of fifteen in the Delgo Invitational Thursday Night at Tangeman Sports Complex. The Busters defeated Hays and Dodge City.  The Tiger's finished with a team score of forty eight and the Conquistadors finished with seventy four. The men's team was led by Alfedo Lebron, 16:04, Babiker Babiker, 16:13, Tyler Eddings 16:31, Anthony Hamilton, 16:38. Coming from behind to make the perfect score was Jose Zavala finishing at 16:48.

 Cameron Reith a former Buster All-American who ran on the 2008 Region VI Championship Team, whose team also finished third at the NJCAA Championships won the meet with a 15:45.  Ryan Turner commented after the meet, "I am proud of the guys for winning with a perfect score.  I like our effort tonight.  I am tickled to open up the first annual Delgo Invitational with this kind of score."  Former Head Cross Country Coach Dan "Delgo" Delgado commented on the race. "Ryan Turner is an excellent coach.  Ryan and I shared many battles some years back.  We are so fortunate to have a coach like Ryan.  His passion for track and field and cross country is refreshing to all of Garden City .  I was fortunate to serve on Athletic Director Ryan Ruda's search committee and we wanted someone who could take all of cross country and track and field and resurrect it back to the days of Coach David Self.  Well, this tells you all about it."

In the women's race Fort Hays won the meet with a score of twenty nine followed by #25 NJCAA ranked Dodge City with forty two and then Garden City who is tied with Dodge City in the NJCAA Polls with a score of fifty four.  Sydney Lower (FHSU) won the two mile event in a time of 13:04.  Garden City was paced by Jenny Boroughs, third overall with a 13:24.  Dodge City's top runner was Savannah Williams who finished fourth coming in at 13:27 placing fourth overall. The Busters remaining top five was Anahy Castro, Jaden Bolmer, Sandra Thornton and Arely Navarrate.  The Busters resume action September, 28th at the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK.
