Concordia, KS-Garden City took care of business winning both games on Saturday. On Sunday the Busters won game III 17-4 over Cloud County (1-10, 3-21) in six innings. The Busters scored nine runs in the opening inning as Cloud County never posed any threat of coming back.
Brooks Benson's first inning grand slam paved the way for Garden City. Benson led the Busters in RBI's recording four on the day. Sean Kennedy went 1-2 from the dish including a three run shot over the wall giving him 3 RBI's. Kyle Lopez went 2-4 with a double and a single. Lopez was good for 3 RBI's.
Tyler Franek was credited with the win giving up four runs on nine hits.
In game IV Garden City downed Cloud County 9-7 to sweep the series. Cloud County in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and bases loaded came up short with a G-6 ground out. The T-Birds had 13 hits and 3 errors while Garden City had 10 hits and 3 errors.
The Birds jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first. The Busters put up four runs in the away inning of the fourth highlighted by a pair of RBI's from Aeneas Roberson and Kyle Lopez. The Busters scored two unearned runs to go ahead 5-4.
A solo shot by Brooks Benson in the sixth put the Busters up 6-4 giving Benson his second home run of the day.
The Birds scored one run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to tie the game at 7.
Garden City scored 3 runs in the ninth. An RBI single by Alex Nielson scored CJ Krainock who reached base on an E-5. Benson then doubled driving in two runs giving Garden City the 9-7 lead.
The Busters improve to 9-3 in the Jayhawk West and 23-6 overall. Cloud County falls to 1-11 in the West and 3-22 overall. Garden City will host Butler Community (1-7, 11-14) Friday March, 25th.
