Highland, KS-Jeff Sims' Busters get their first win of the season 36-28 over Highland Community College today at Highland. The Busters were down in the second quarter 21-7 before they came back to tie the game 21-21 at the half.
Michigan native Jayru Campbell made his collegiate debut throwing for four touchdowns. Campbell had touchdown passes for 20, 28, 5 and 21 yards. A Trayvon Blake pick six brought the Busters to within eight and the PAT by Kevin Olney made it 21-14.
Garden City was able to tie the game after a 70 yard interception return by Johnathan Cook. Campbell would hook up with a 28 yard strike to Jeff Thomas with 42 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
After the break Garden City would strike first with five yard touchdown pass to Jeff Thomas. Olney PAT was blocked and the Busters led 27-21. The Busters struck again at the end of the third quarter with a 28 yard pass that was batted around and ended up in the hands of Felton Hatcher giving Garden City a 33-28 lead.
Garden City ended their scoring with a 20 yard field goal from Kevin Olney, giving Garden City 36-28 lead they would not relinquish. Garden City will host Dodge City Saturday September, 5th at Bronbuster Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 PM
