Busters Split with Cougars

Despite a big day at the dish from Sidney Coleman, who finished 2-4, Broncbuster lost 11-2 to Barton County Community College at Garden City, KS on Saturday.

Holly Posegate recorded the win for Barton County Community College. She allowed one run over three innings. Posegate struck out one, walked two and gave up four hits.

Barton County Community College was sparked by Erica Harper and Jenna Hosey, who teamed up for six hits and six RBIs.

Rachel Roe ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out seven.

The lead stayed with Barton County Community College after the first, when it scored two runs on a two-run home run by Harper.

Broncbuster scored one run in the bottom of the second to cut its deficit to one. A sacrifice fly by Coleman fueled Broncbuster's comeback. Liberty Nelson to end the Broncbuster threat.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fifth, Broncbuster faced just a 4-2 deficit. An RBI single by Karissa Cardenas triggered Broncbuster's comeback. Finally, Taylor Bugner got Jayde Wilson to ground out to end the threat.

Barton County Community College increased its lead with seven runs in the sixth. A solo blast by Hosey ignited the offense,. That was followed up by Brianna Ward's double, plating Lili Ertmann and McKenna Mauler.

For three, Barb Nigon and Taylor Bugner engaged in a tight pitchers' duel. In the end, Nigon and Broncbuster hung on for the victory. The Broncbuster mustered six hits and, thanks to Nigon's stellar pitching, defeated Barton County Community College 8-7 at Garden City, KS on Saturday.

Nigon worked out of six tough situations for Broncbuster. She pitched nine innings and allowed one earned run on nine hits. Nigon faced her toughest moment in the ninth inning.

Bugner was a workhorse in the circle for Barton County Community College. Bugner allowed two earned runs, five hits and four walks while striking out three over eight innings of work.

A walk-off three-run home run by Liberty Nelson gave Broncbuster the win.

Nelson racked up three RBIs on one hit for Broncbuster. She homered in the ninth inning.

Broncbuster answered Barton County Community College's top inning with two runs of its own in the first. Broncbuster scored on a two-run single by Mattie Miller.

Broncbuster survived Barton County Community College's surge and put up three runs of its own in the ninth. Broncbuster scored on a three-run home run by Nelson.
