BUSTERS REGION VI DIVISION I SOFTBALL RUNNER-UPS

El Dorado, KS-Garden City advanced to the Region VI Championship game with an extra inning 4-3 thrilling victory over Butler County. 

The Busters (#3 Seed) would once again face Barton County (#4 Seed) who defeated them 24 hours earlier 3-1. Butler Community (#1 Seed) lost to Barton County 5-4 in game two, then suffering the 4-3 loss to Garden City setting up the rematch.

It was not to be for the Busters as strong hitting and fielding took it toll on Garden City as they suffered their second setback to the Cougars with a 6-0 decision.

The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead and then in the top of the third Region VI Player of The Year Erica Harper answered with a grand slam and the Cougars led 5-0.

The Busters were unable to produce any runs and the Cougars would add one more run in the top of the seventh winning the game 6-0.

Garden City finished the regular season in third place with a record of 13-11. Barton County finished in fourth while Butler Community finished first and Seward County finished second.

Head Softball Coach Becky Gundy was named the 2015 Region VI Division I Softball Coach of The Year finishing the year as the Region VI Softball Runner Up. Player Accolades will be announced tomorrow.
