Dodge City, KS-In their first matchup nearly a month ago, Garden City climbed out of a major hole to win a thriller in overtime.
On Saturday, Dodge City made sure of no such collapse.
Begona Rodriguez netted four goals as the Conquistadors handed the Broncbusters a 6-2 defeat Saturday afternoon.
The loss dropped Garden City to 6-7-1 overall and 4-3 in the conferernce.
"We did not play well at all," Long said. "They hit us in the mouth, and we never responded."
The Conquistadors, who won for the fifth time in their last six matches, took control of the game early on. Rawaa Ismail and Rodriguez scored three goals in the first 14:34 of the match.
"We were trying to dig out of a hole the entire day," Long said. "That's tough."
Dodge City (7-6, 4-4) took a 4-0 edge when Rogriguez scored again two minutes into the second half.
Garden City fought back, scoring twice in less than three minutes. Sierra Rivera netted a goal at the 54-minute mark before Kelly Ramirez added a score two minutes after that.
"We had chances to get back in the match," Long said. "But they came right back at us."
Rodriguez dashed the Broncbuster comeback hopes with a goal in the 61st minute before Siobhan Longmore put the match away with a score in the 65th.
"It's another learning experience for these girls," Long said.
