Garden City, KS-This week's athlete of the week goes to the Garden City Community College Softball Team under the direction of Region VI Coach of the Year Becky Gundy and Region VI Assistant Coach of the Year Christina Mueller.
The Busters had first round wins against Colby (4-3, 9-4) at Tangeman Field advancing them to El Dorado. In the quarterfinals Garden City defeated Seward County 6-4 then falling to Barton County 3-1. Garden City came out of the semifinals with a 4-3 win over Butler County to advance to the Championship Game. Barton County defeated Garden City 8-0 to claim the Region VI D1 Softball Championship
Garden City and Barton County split (2-2) during regular season play.
