Liberal, KS-With the way 2021 has gone, Thursday had to feel sweet for veteran Head Coach Chris Finnegan.
Ryan Muniz homered, Kyle Jameson drove in three runs, and Garden City beat Seward County 8-5 at Brent Gould Field.
After taking an early 1-0 lead thanks to Miguel Ramos' two-out, RBI double in the first, the Saints responded with two of their own in the bottom half. But the Broncbusters quickly countered in the second. Geoff Marlow doubled, and Jameson brought him around with a single to right. A few minutes later, Jameson scored on an error to put Garden City up 3-2.
Seward County went back in front in the second when Kase Johnson and Braden Boisvert ripped a pair of run-scoring singles. But the lead didn't last long once Marlow doubled home Ramos to tie it in the third before Mason Mitchell's base hit put the visitors up for good. Jameson added a two-run single, and Muniz mashed a solo bomb in the sixth for some insurance.
DJ Burke notched the win on the bump, allowing three earned runs on six hits while fanning six. Jameson went 2-for-3 at the dish, and Will Gardner finished 3-for-4 with a run scored.
