Broncbusters Split Four-Game Texas Series at Ranger

Ranger, TX – The Garden City Community College Broncbusters wrapped up a four-game road series at Ranger College with a split after a weekend that featured power at the plate, momentum swings, and a schedule wrinkle. The opening doubleheader on Friday was suspended due to darkness, with the remaining innings completed Sunday. When it was all said and done, Garden City and Ranger each claimed two wins in a competitive series deep in the heart of Texas.
Game 1: Garden City 9, Ranger 3
Garden City opened the series by setting the tone offensively, using a three-run third and a four-run seventh to pull away.
Cael Hamrick drove the offense with four RBI and a pair of doubles, while Karson Evans homered and scored three times. Sean Philpotts added two hits and an RBI as the Broncbusters produced nine runs on nine hits.
On the mound, Ethan Bailey earned the win with four innings of work, and the bullpen combination of Roy Higinbotham and Willis Simair held Ranger in check to secure the victory .
Game 2: Garden City 16, Ranger 11
The bats stayed hot in a slugfest that saw both teams trade big innings. Garden City erupted for four runs in the first and five more in the eighth to create separation late.
Karson Evans had a monster game, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Sean Philpotts added a homer and four RBI, while Aiden Wilson and Cael Hamrick also went deep. The Broncbusters totaled 14 hits and six home runs in the win.
Multiple arms combined on the mound, with Andrew Torres closing the door over the final two innings to lock down the high-scoring victory .
Game 3: Ranger 6, Garden City 5
Karson Evans provided the biggest swing for Garden City with a home run and four RBI, while Sean Togher and Sean Philpotts contributed key hits. The Broncbusters carried a late lead, but Ranger used a two-run seventh and a run in the eighth to sneak ahead.
Despite solid relief work from Joe Baumbach, Ranger completed the comeback to take the one-run decision .
Game 4: Ranger 10, Garden City 1
Ranger grabbed the finale by capitalizing on early opportunities and a six-run fourth inning.
Roy Higinbotham drove in Garden City's lone run, and Sean Togher recorded one of the Broncbusters' two hits. Ranger's pitching staff limited Garden City's offense throughout the game to seal the result and earn the split .
Across the four games, the Broncbusters showed their offensive firepower with multiple multi-homer performances and several big innings, while also battling through a unique schedule adjustment on the road. A series split on the road keeps Garden City building valuable early-season experience against quality competition.

The Broncbusters hit the road again, traveling to Amarillo, Texas for a four-game series on Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21. First pitch each day is scheduled for 12:00 PM as Garden City looks to build momentum on the road.
