Garden City Closes Amarillo Series with Saturday Victory

Amarillo, TX – The Garden City Community College Broncbusters wrapped up a four-game road series at Amarillo College over Friday and Saturday, battling through tight games, high-scoring innings, and strong pitching performances. The series featured momentum swings each day as all four games were played at Hodgetown in Amarillo.
Game 1 (Friday): Amarillo 6, Garden City 2
Amarillo jumped out early with three runs in the first and added three more in the third to take control of the opener.
Sean Togher tripled and drove in a run, while Karson Evans added an RBI as Garden City pushed across two runs in the sixth. Sean Philpotts collected two hits, including a double, but Amarillo's early offense proved too much to overcome.
Corey Williams provided 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, but the Broncbusters fell 6–2 to open the series .
Game 2 (Friday): Amarillo 10, Garden City 9
The nightcap turned into an offensive battle. Garden City exploded for five runs in the fourth inning and totaled 12 hits in the game. Mason Tafoya drove in two, Aiden Wilson had three RBI, and Sean Togher added an RBI in a balanced attack.
Cael Hamrick scored three times, while Damon Hernandez and Sean Philpotts each contributed multi-hit performances.
Despite the offensive surge, Amarillo answered late and edged out the 10–9 win in a tightly contested game .
Game 3 (Saturday): Amarillo 6, Garden City 3
Amarillo again struck early Saturday, building a 3–0 lead before Garden City chipped away.
Aiden Wilson drove in a run, while Damon Hernandez and Brady Eklund added RBI as the Broncbusters stayed within reach. Karson Evans and Sean Togher each recorded hits, but Amarillo capitalized on timely hitting to secure the 6–3 victory .
Game 4 (Saturday): Garden City 4, Amarillo 3
The Broncbusters closed the series with a hard-fought win behind strong pitching and timely hitting.
Sean Togher led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Will Togher drove in two runs. Garden City totaled 10 hits and struck out 16 Amarillo batters in the game.
Noah Humphreys earned the win with four shutout innings in relief, and Roy Higinbotham recorded the save to secure the 4–3 victory and prevent the sweep .
Across the four games, Garden City showcased offensive depth and resilience on the road, battling in multiple one-run contests against a tough Amarillo squad.
Next Up: The Broncbusters continue their road stretch, traveling to Tyler, TX for a four-game series against Tyler Junior College at Mike Carter Field. The twinbill is set for Friday, February 27, and Saturday, February 28, with first pitches scheduled for 1:00 PM both days as Garden City looks to build on their recent road experience.
