By Mike Pilosof
Garden City, KS-School officials announced on Tuesday that Head Football Coach Jeff sims has been named Associate Athletic Director for Garden City Community College.
"I appreciate the opportunity given to me by the college," Sims said. "I will help in my current position to help our coaches develop programs that develop college graduates, champions, and future four-year scholarship athletes."
Sims will continue to serve as head coach while serving in his new position.
"I want to help good coaches become great coaches," Sims said. "A good coach can change a game, a great coach can change a life."
Sims has curated quite the resume since arriving in Garden City. He orchestrated one of the greatest single-season turnarounds in NJCAA history when he led the Broncbusters to an 11-0 mark and the National Championship in 2016. The following year, Garden City won eight games and was invited to play in the Heart of Texas Bowl before losing a thriller to Trinity Valley 48-41.
"My goal has always been to get guys out of here," Sims said. "And I think we've done a really good job of that."
With their win over Ellsworth in week two, Sims moved up to 32nd in NJCAA career winning percentage. The following week, he notched his 70th career win with a 28-21 come-from-victory over No. 13 Independence. It was his 13th career win over a ranked opponent in 24 games.
