Bio
Sam Brandt enters his first season as Special Teams Coordinator/Assistant Quarterbacks/Director of Football Operations at Garden City Community College
Brandt is a former elite dual-threat quarterback and strong safety from Piedmont, Oklahoma. He
was a four-year varsity starter on both sides of the ball for Bethany High School (Class of 2020),
earning statewide acclaim as one of Oklahoma’s top Class 4A athletes.
College Career at Fort Hays State University (FHSU)
Brandt played four seasons (2021–2024) at Fort Hays State University in the MIAA as a defensive
back/safety. He appeared in 44 games and developed into a reliable, physical contributor in the
secondary.

Brandt was a dynamic 3-sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball/track) and a 4-year starter at
quarterback/running back on offense and free safety on defense. Known for his toughness, high
football IQ, and two-way production, he helped lead the Bronchos to multiple deep playoff runs.

Personal Life:Brandt maintained a 3.71 cumulative GPA, was inducted into the National Honor Society, and
participated in the prestigious Israeli Ambassador Student Exchange Program.
Off the field, Sam is recognized for his strong character, leadership, work ethic, and faith. He
committed to FHSU after “much thought and prayer,” and coaches have long praised his maturity and
competitive fire. A proud product of the Piedmont/Bethany community, he values family support and
teamwork, using football as a platform to inspire the next generation. After his playing career, Sam
transitioned into coaching as a Graduate Assistant with the FHSU football program.
Sam Brandt’s journey—from record-setting dual-threat at Bethany to dependable college contributor
and now mentor—reflects his dedication, resilience, and love for the game. He remains a role model
for young athletes who prioritize character alongside on-field excellence.
