Tony Koehling was named the 25th head coach in the history of the Garden City Community College football program on March 5, 2026.

Koehling arrived at Garden City following a national championship season as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Hutchinson Community College. Over the last 6 seasons, Koehling has helped guide offenses to all 5 NJCAA playoffs and 4 National Championship appearances. During his time with the Blue Dragons, he helped guide one of the most productive offenses in the NJCAA while contributing to Hutchinson’s 2024 NJCAA National Championship. 11 players from the 2025 Blue Dragon offense went on to the NCAA D1 level and 2 more players continued on to the NCAA D2 level. Derrick Salley Jr led the nation in receiving touchdowns and was 4th in the nation in receiving yards; he finished the year as a 1st team NJCAA All-American.

In the 2024 National Championship season, the Blue Dragons offense averaged 45.1 PPG, 463.9 Total YPG, and 267.7 Rushing YPG. Their offense was led by 2024 NJCAA DI Football Offensive Player of the Year, Waymond Jordan. Waymond averaged 134.5 rushing yards per game and finished with 20 rushing touchdowns on the season. Jordan was also the 2024 JUCOWeekly Trophy Winner, 2024 KJCCC Offensive Player of the year, and 5x KJCCC Player of the Week. The Blue Dragons had two other offensive players who were NJCAA Honorable-Mention All-Americans: QB Samari Collier and OL Bubba Craig. They had six 1st team All-KJCCC offensive selections and four more 2nd team selections.

In his first season at Hutchinson in 2023, Koehling coordinated an offense that ranked third nationally in scoring at 37.6 points per game. The Blue Dragons averaged 377.9 yards per game, ranked fifth in the NJCAA in rushing offense at 225.3 yards per contest and finished the season 10-1 while winning the Jayhawk Conference championship and advancing to the NJCAA National Playoff semifinals.

Under Koehling’s direction, several Hutchinson players earned major honors. Quarterback Samari Collier was named the Jayhawk Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year, while running back Tyrell Reed Jr. and offensive lineman Jayven Richardson earned NJCAA Second Team All-America recognition. The Blue Dragon offense produced 14 all-conference selections that season.

Prior to Hutchinson, Koehling spent three seasons at Iowa Western Community College as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. During that time, the Reivers were among the nation’s top junior college programs. Iowa Western finished 7-1 and ranked No. 4 nationally during the COVID-affected 2020-21 season, advanced to the NJCAA national championship game in 2021 and captured the NJCAA national championship in 2022.

Koehling previously spent five seasons at Emporia State University as run game coordinator, offensive line coach and tight ends coach. During his tenure with the Hornets, Emporia State made three postseason appearances, including two NCAA Division II playoff berths.
He began his collegiate coaching career at Ohio University, where he spent three seasons as an offensive graduate assistant and defensive graduate assistant working with the offensive line, linebackers and special teams. During that time, the Bobcats appeared in the Independence Bowl and the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl.

Koehling played on the offensive line at Thomas More College, helping the Saints reach the NCAA Division III playoffs following an undefeated regular season and conference championship in 2009.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Koehling graduated from Roger Bacon High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in specialized studies from Ohio University with concentrations in sports management and sociology and a minor in political science.
