Late goal stuns Garden City men

Garden City, KS-The price of admission was worth it in this one. The result however was a head scratcher for Oscar Zelaya's team.  

Cristobal Juan Berrios scored the go-ahead goal with less than two minutes remaining, and Dodge City stunned Garden City, 3-2 Wednesday afternoon at Broncbuster Stadium.  

Garden City, which dropped to 3-2-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play, led for a good chunk of the match after Tadiwanashe Mangwayana found Joao Weber Vitor for a goal in the 24^th minute. 

Dodge City responded early in the second half. Following a corner kick by David Garcia, Jeilen Augustin's header was swatted away by Broncbuster keeper, Ilham Brenbraham. But Garden City never cleared, and the rebound was put home by Mike Alvarez to tie the match, 1-1.  

The Conquistadors then took the lead less than five minutes later after Adrian Campbell, who was trying to clear a corner kick out of the box, accidentally kneed the ball into his own net. 

Campbell though more than atoned for his mistake in the 84^th minute using a tremendous bicycle kick to setup Vitor Mendonca for the equalizer.  

But the celebration was short lived. In the 88^th minute, Berrios headed in Sergio Bravo's corner to put the Conquistadors back in front.  

Zelaya, who spent seven seasons as the Head Coach at Dodge City where he was named the conference coach of the year in 2019, watched as his team was outshot, 19-8. Brenbraham recorded seven saves.
