Bio
Yahir joins the Garden City Community College men’s soccer program as an assistant mens coach, bringing a strong background in goalkeeping, player development, and secondary education athletics.
 
A native of Pampa, Texas, Yahir was a four-year varsity goalkeeper at Pampa High School, where he helped anchor the defense for the Harvesters during multiple playoffs runs. His high school career included district, bi-district, and area championships, along with recognition as an All-Academic State honoree.
 
Following graduation, Yahir committed to Wayland Baptist University, where he spent one year with the men’s soccer program before transferring to West Texas A&M University to focus on academics. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Mexican American Latino Studies and graduated as an Attebury Honors student.
 
While in college, Yahir gained valuable coaching experience through volunteer roles during high school summer seasons and junior high spring seasons. He also completed a full-season internship with the Pampa High School soccer program, fulfilling requirements for the Attebury Honors Program. Most recently, he served as the head cross country coach and assistant girls soccer coach at Pampa High School before joining the Garden City Community College staff.
 
Yahir is currently TASO referee certified, is actively pursuing U.S. Soccer Grassroots coaching licenses, and looking to gain experience under head coach Oscar Zelaya.
