Elias Mebitil-Libert Captures National Title In 3000 Meters
The Broncbuster Track and Field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships on March 6th-7th 2026. The men's team finished 12th out of 32 teams. Women finished 18thout of 32 teams. The competition was held at Topeka, Kansas in the Sneed Indoor Facility at Washburn University.
MEN:
Elias Mebitil-Libert is the NJCAA National Champion in the 3,000m!! He was previously ranked 12th with a time of 8:22.47 and finished 1st with a new school record and personal best time of 8:13.56. He also competed in the 1,000m placing 10th and in the Mile placing 23rd.
Distance Medley Relay received All-American placement and a new school record placing 6th in the region. Runners consist of: Daniel Aboagye (1200), Landen Leonard (400), Andreas Laursen (800), and Elias Mebitil-Libert (Mile).
Daniel Aboagye received an All-American placement in the 800m placing 6th and received All-American placement in the 1,000m with a new school record and personal best time of 2:26.44 placing 4th.
Eyona Mangumta: Placed 15th in the weight throw with a mark of 15.67m.
Landen Leonard: New personal best in the 800m with a time of 1:54.64 placing 19th.
Marius Delchard: Placed 20th in the Mile with a time of 4:18.75.
Thaddaeus Rotich: Placed 26th in the 3,000m with a time of 8:52.25 and placed 16th in the 5,000m with a time of 15:28.19.
Matteo Lagant: Placed 15th in the 3,000m with a time of 8:34.40.
Travis Hollins: Placed 23rd in the 60mH with a time of 8.63.
4x800m Relay: Placed 15th, runners consist of: Andreas Laursen, Landen Leonard, Thaddeaus Rotich and Carson Schmidt.
WOMEN:
Meryeme Mai: Received All-American placement with a new school record and personal best in the Mile with a time of 4:54.19, placing 5th. Also received All-American honors and breaking her own school record as well as a personal best in the 3,000m with a time of 9:44.3, placing 4th. Another All-American honors in the 5,000m with a time of 17:15.93, placing 6th.
Madyson Schreibvogel: Placed 19th in 600m dash with a time of 1:46.03.
Reid Harvey-McKean: Placed 20th with a personal best in the 3,000m with a time of 10:37.39.
Monifa Edwards: Placed 9th in the shot put with a mark of 13.13m. Placed 12th in the weight throw with a mark of 14.84m.
Halima Biggs: Placed 13th in the High Jump with a height of 1.51m. Placed 22nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 1.55m.
Naya Jules: Placed 15th in the Pentathlon and having a personal best in the high jump with a height of 1.47m and a total score of 2754. She also placed 16th in the pole vault with a height of 2.90m.
Umahan Sahin: Placed 24th in the 3,000m with a time of 11:19.08.
Distance Medley Relay: Placed 13rd, runners consist of: Reid Harvey-McKean (1200), Madyson Schreibvogel (400), Maritza Romero (800) and Umahan Sahin (1600).
4x800m: placed 13th, runners consist of: Umahan Sahin, Naya Jules, Jaquelyne Gonzalez and Snegugu Mkhize.
