Four Broncobusters Headed to College National Finals Rodeo
GARDEN CITY, Kan. – Four Garden City Community College rodeo student-athletes have earned the opportunity to compete on collegiate rodeo's biggest stage after qualifying for the 2026 College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR), scheduled for June 14-20 in Casper, Wyoming.
Representing the Broncobusters at the national finals will be team ropers Nick Lovins and Jaytyn Hash, tie-down roper and team roper Jhett Vander Hamm, and bareback rider Rhett Robbins.
Lovins returns to the CNFR for the second time in his collegiate career after putting together a strong season in team roping. He captured long-go victories at Colby Community College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University while finishing second in the average at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Garden City Community College. Lovins will compete aboard Roscoe, a seven-year-old sorrel that has been a key part of his success throughout the season.
Hash earned his first trip to the CNFR after a breakout season highlighted by a team roping victory at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. His performance helped lead the Broncobusters to the men's team championship at the event. Hash will ride his 10-year-old bay horse, High Plains Trump, better known around the arena as "Carlos," when he competes in Casper.
Vander Hamm will make his first appearance at the CNFR after recording back-to-back tie-down roping victories at Fort Scott Community College and Garden City Community College. He will compete in both tie-down roping and team roping at the national finals. In team roping, Vander Hamm will ride his bay mare, Alice, while Diego, a 12-year-old gray gelding, will carry him in tie-down roping competition.
Robbins punched his ticket to the CNFR with a season-defining victory in bareback riding at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. His performance played a significant role in helping the Broncobusters capture the first men's team title in program history. The season also included a memorable milestone away from the arena with the birth of his son, Rowdy, a future Broncbuster in the making. Robbins will be making his first appearance at the national finals.
The College National Finals Rodeo annually brings together the nation's top collegiate competitors to determine individual and team national champions. Competition begins June 14 at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper.
