Broncbusters Shut Out by Butler in Game 1

GARDEN CITY, KS – Garden City Community College was held scoreless in Game 1 of a home doubleheader Friday, falling to Butler Community College 8-0 in six innings.
The Broncbusters managed four hits in the contest but were unable to capitalize offensively, while Butler used steady run production and a late surge to secure the victory.
Both teams were locked in a scoreless battle through the first three innings before Butler broke through in the fourth. A leadoff double set the tone, and the Grizzlies pushed across a run on a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead.
Butler added to its advantage in the fifth, capitalizing on a walk and a two-out RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.
Garden City threatened in the fourth inning, putting runners in scoring position with back-to-back singles from Danna Viera and Jade Hendrix, but Butler worked out of the jam to keep the Broncbusters off the board.
The Grizzlies put the game out of reach in the sixth inning, erupting for six runs on four hits. A grand slam highlighted the inning, as Butler extended its lead to 8-0 and secured the run-rule victory.
Garden City finished with four hits on the day, with Viera, Hendrix, Maiarangi Waipara, and Reagan Sword each recording a hit.
