Broncbusters Dominate Season Opener with 108–37 Victory
La Junta, CO—The Garden City Community College women's basketball team opened the 2025–26 season with a statement, throttling Trinidad State 108–37 on the road Friday afternoon.
Sophomore standout Sokhna Ndiaye led the charge with an explosive 30 points on 13-of-20 shooting, including three triples. London Turner nearly posted a double-double with 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Paula Fernandez was lights-out from deep, connecting on 6-of-13 from three to finish with 18 points.
The Broncbusters wasted little time setting the tone, racing to a 17–9 lead after the first quarter before outscoring the Trojans 34–4 in the second to blow the game wide open. Garden City's offense fired on all cylinders, shooting 45% from the field and 78% from the line, while forcing 38 turnovers and piling up 25 assists as a team.
Caryle Fortas added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Elektra Mjoll contributed 9 points and 5 assists as the Busters' depth overwhelmed Trinidad State on both ends of the floor.
Garden City improves to 1–0 to start the season and will look to build on the strong start when they return to action next week.
