Ndiaye’s Double-Double Powers Garden City Past Otero, 74–65
La Junta, CO—One day after their 108-point explosion in the season opener, the Garden City Community College women's basketball team proved they could win a grind-it-out battle too, defeating Otero College 74–65 on Saturday afternoon to move to 2–0 on the young season.
Sophomore forward Sokhna Ndiaye once again stole the spotlight, pouring in 25 points and grabbing 9 rebounds, while battling constant defensive pressure. The Broncbusters got balanced production across the board as London Turnerchipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals, and Caryle Fortas contributed 8 points, 9 boards, and 4 assists.
Garden City built an early cushion behind an 18–11 first quarter and stretched the lead to double digits by halftime, holding off several late pushes from Otero. Paula Fernandez hit a pair of key threes to finish with 10 points, while Deija Roberson added 8 points and 7 rebounds in another strong frontcourt showing.
Despite shooting just 33% from the field, the Broncbusters' defense made the difference, forcing 32 turnovers and converting them into transition buckets. Garden City also controlled the glass, outrebounding Otero 46–33.
