Garden City, KS—Behind a smothering defensive effort and a huge night on the glass, the Garden City Community College women's basketball team rolled past Pratt Community College 69–54 Saturday afternoon at Conestoga Arena, earning their first Jayhawk Conference victory of the season.
After trailing 14–13 at the end of the first quarter, the Broncbusters completely flipped the game with a dominant 16–4 second frame, taking a 29–18 lead into the locker room. Garden City never looked back, outscoring Pratt in both the third and fourth quarters and answering every late run with timely stops and scores.
Sokhna Ndiaye paced the Busters with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Luana Luz came up big with 14 points, including a pair of threes. Marshea Fisher stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals, and Elektra Mjoll and Deija Roberson each added 9 points, with Roberson pulling down 9 rebounds to help control the interior.
Garden City's defense was the story of the day. The Broncbusters forced 35 Pratt turnovers, turning them into 28 points, and dominated the hustle categories with 16 second-chance points and 26 bench points. Both teams finished with 28 points in the paint, but GCCC's pressure and depth proved to be the difference.
With the win, Garden City improves to 6–1 overall and 1–1 in Jayhawk Conference play, continuing a strong start to the 2025–26 campaign in front of the home crowd at Conestoga Arena.
Next up: Garden City hits the road for a midweek matchup against Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Tuesday, November 25th at 6:30 PM CST.
