Jamie Fisher was named the head women’s basketball coach at Garden City Community College in May 2026.

Fisher enters his 19th season in college coaching and his 12th season as a head coach, bringing a career record of 194-128 (.603) to Garden City. Across his coaching career, Fisher has led three different NJCAA programs to the NJCAA National Tournament, produced a 94% graduation rate over 11 years as a head coach, and helped more than 50 student-athletes advance to four-year programs.

Fisher arrived at Garden City following two successful seasons as head coach at Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers, Florida. During his tenure, the Buccaneers posted a 44-18 overall record, produced a 100% graduation rate, and earned multiple postseason honors.

In 2024-25, Florida Southwestern finished 25-6, captured the Citrus Conference Championship with a school-record 17 conference victories, advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament Sweet 16, and Fisher earned Citrus Conference Coach of the Year honors. Under his leadership, the Buccaneers produced one NJCAA All-American, nine Citrus All-Conference selections, and the 2025 Citrus Conference Player of the Year.

Prior to Florida Southwestern, Fisher spent 12 seasons at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, including nine seasons as head coach. He compiled a 150-110 overall record with the Cowgirls and coached two NJCAA All-Americans, 24 all-conference selections, and one Region 2 Player of the Year.

Fisher guided Connors State to one of the most successful stretches in program history. His best season came in 2023-24 when the Cowgirls finished 29-5, won the OCAC Championship by five games, captured the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament title, and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in 15 years.

During his time at Connors State, Fisher earned Region 2 Coach of the Year honors twice and was also named South Central District Coach of the Year.

Fisher began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. The Hawks won the 2009 NJCAA Region 5 Championship and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament during his time on staff.

A native of Owasso, Oklahoma, Fisher and his wife, Lynette, have one son, Liam McGuire.
