Broncbusters battle Dodge City to a draw

Garden City and Dodge City battled to a 2-2 draw Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. 

Dodge City started strong, with Martina Bonilla scoring the first goal in the 24th minute, giving the Conquistadors a 1-0 lead. They continued to control the game in the first half outshooting Garden City, 12-3.

In the second half, Dodge City quickly added to their lead. Emily Alonso scored in the 47th minute with an assist from Karen Ernst Ludeking making it 2-0.

The Broncbusters began their comeback in the 72nd minute when Jessica Newton scored directly from a corner kick, bringing the score to 2-1. Ariel Martinez scored with just 28 seconds left in the game, after Emma Casenave battled her way past a defender to play a ball crossed the front of the goal for the assist.

Dodge City had a slight edge in total shots (16-14), but Garden City had more shots on goal (10-8). Both teams had three corner kicks during the game. Goalkeeper, Leydaly Enriquez made sux saves for Garden City, while Ana Ramirez-Cortes had eight for Dodge City.
