Hays, KS - Garden City Community College couldn't hold on after a strong first half, falling 5–2 to Barton Community College on Wednesday at Fort Hays State University Soccer Stadium.
The Cougars struck first in the 9th minute when Sara Aguirre found the net, but the Broncbusters answered quickly. In the 14th minute, Frida Steene buried the equalizer off a feed from Ella Venables, marking her first goal of the season. Just before halftime, Maddison Foster delivered another strike in the 40th minute to give Garden City a 2–1 advantage.
Barton regrouped after the break and took control. A 51st-minute own goal leveled the match, followed by three more Cougar goals in the 62nd, 73rd, and 76th minutes. Aguirre capped the night with her second tally, sealing the 5–2 result.
Goalkeeper Millie D'Ath faced relentless pressure, recording six saves on 11 shots on goal.
The Broncbusters move to 7-2-1 overall, 2-1-0 in conference play, while Barton improved to 2-3 on the season.
