Garden City Racks Up 26 Runs in Sweep of Frank Phillips

Garden City, KS – Garden City Community College softball delivered an explosive showing at home on Saturday, sweeping Frank Phillips College in dominant fashion behind early offense and power throughout the lineup.
The Broncbusters combined for 26 runs across the doubleheader and used big innings in both games to seize momentum early and stay in control.
Game 1: Garden City 16, Frank Phillips 3
Garden City jumped on Frank Phillips immediately, scoring three runs in the first and adding seven more in the second to take command. The Broncbusters tallied 13 hits and consistently found barrels in a 16–3 win.
Jade Hendrix sparked the offense with a four-hit performance, driving in two and scoring three times. Maiarangi Waipara delivered the biggest blows, launching two home runs and finishing with five RBI. Danna Viera added two RBI and scored three runs, while Zoey Torres homered and drove in two.
The Broncbusters were aggressive on the bases as well, racking up multiple stolen bases to keep pressure on the defense.
In the circle, Skylah Breeze Joyce earned the win with four innings of work, allowing two runs while striking out four. Valeria Mandujano closed the final inning to secure the victory .
Game 2: Garden City 10, Frank Phillips 2
The nightcap followed a similar script, with Garden City striking early and never letting up. The Broncbusters plated four runs in the first and three more in the second to build a comfortable lead.
Maysen Kurene-Iwikau paced the attack with a perfect 3-for-3 day, including a triple and a home run while driving in four runs. Jade Hendrix collected two hits and scored three times, and Reagan Sword added two hits and two runs. Maiarangi Waipara, Zoey Torres, Lexy Hickey, and Izzy Foster all contributed RBI in the balanced effort.
Samantha Torres picked up the win in the circle, tossing four innings and allowing just two runs. Maddie Scott handled the final frame as Garden City limited Frank Phillips to five hits .
Garden City's sweep showcased a deep lineup, timely power, and aggressive baserunning. The Broncbusters controlled both games from the outset and continued to build momentum as the season gets underway.
