Busters Roll Past Clarendon in Home Doubleheader

Garden City, KS – Garden City Community College softball protected home field Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Clarendon College in a doubleheader at Tangeman Sports Complex behind timely hitting and solid pitching performances.
The Broncbusters combined for 15 runs across the two games and used big innings in each contest to stay in control.
Game 1: Garden City 8, Clarendon 5
Clarendon struck first, but Garden City answered in a big way with a five-run second inning to take control early.
Reagan Sword provided one of the biggest swings of the game, launching a two-run home run and finishing with two RBI. Izzy Foster added a double and drove in three runs, while Kendall Richardson delivered a pinch-hit home run that gave the Broncbusters a spark.
Jade Hendrix collected two hits, and Garden City capitalized on Clarendon miscues to build separation. The Broncbusters added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings to secure the 8–5 victory.
In the circle, Skylah Breeze Joyce earned the win, tossing four innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out five. Maddie Scott and Ashlyn Powell combined in relief to close things out .
Game 2: Garden City 7, Clarendon 2
The second matchup featured another steady performance from the Broncbusters, who broke the game open with three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Averie Ashford led the offense with three hits, while Jade Hendrix added two hits and an RBI. Maysen Kurene-Iwikau doubled and drove in two, and Maiarangi Waipara tripled and brought in a run. Zoey Torres added an RBI as Garden City tallied 11 hits in the win.
Valeria Mandujano was sharp in the circle, earning the victory with four strong innings, allowing just two runs while striking out four. Samantha Torres closed the final three innings to secure the sweep .
Garden City showcased balanced offense, aggressive baserunning, and quality pitching throughout the afternoon, continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.
Next Up: The Broncbusters head to Midwest City, Oklahoma this weekend to compete in the Visit Midwest City Tournament. First pitch is set for Friday at 11:00 AM against Frank Phillips College.
